OnDemand
Version 5.6 Software Enhancements
Software Version 5.6
will be shipping to new and existing customers in February,
2004. This version builds and expands upon the landmark
functionality introduced in Version
5.5 of OnDemand, released in October, 2003. Topping
the list of upgrades are usability enhancements based
on field research and customer input, improved Search
and simplified data entry in Quotes.
Usability Enhancements
- You will notice that the selection tabs (Vehicle,
Repair) have changed and shifted to the far left side
of your display. The tabs are now easier to find and
select. This is just one (of many) example of usability
fine-tuning in this release that makes this version
of OnDemand easier to use than ever before.
Vehicle Selection Screen
- Each of the history lists (Quotes, Repair, etc.) may
now be sorted independently; just click the heading
above the column you want to sort. For example, if you
want to sort Quotes by date, just click the Date heading
and the list is sorted. Click the heading again and
the sort is reversed. This is in keeping with browser-based
software design conventions. Additionally, a confirmation
prompt (Are you sure? Y/N) has been added to the Delete
All function to help prevent the accidental deletion
of saved history.
Search - The Search
feature has been enhanced with a tabbed presentation
allowing you to easily switch back and forth between
your Search Results and the Category Selection panels.
Your search results also now persist between Products/Modules.
In other words, if you conduct a search in Repair and
then switch to Estimator, TSB, or Maintenance your search
will carry over to the new module and you will not need
to conduct a new search. We've also expanded the "fuzzy"
search logic and lists so that searching is easier and
more powerful than ever before.
Estimator - Print
Preview has been enhanced to reflect your selections.
Once you have made Parts and/or Labor selections, just
click the Print icon to view preview(s) of your selections.
Click Print again to send the print job to the printer
or click the big red "X" in the left corner
of your screen to close the Window.
Repair and TSB Article Selected Text
Printing - A Selected Text printing capability has been
added. Just highlight the text passage and then click
the Print icon. The Print dialog box displays. Choose
whether or not to include Figures and click OK to send
the highlighted article text (and figures, if selected)
to the printer.
TSB - the TSB filter
boxes have been reorganized to simplify the filtering
process.
Fluids - All Fluids are now displayed
by default when you choose Fluids from the Maintenance
screen. Click the Print button to display a preview
window of all fluids. You can also choose to display/print
just a single Fluid category, as before.
Quotes - The Quotes
display has been reorganized in a more streamlined data
entry workflow. First you enter Mileage and then you
can tab through the remaining fields, in order, without
ever using a mouse. An Add Item button with drop-down
choice list has been added so that you specify the type
of item you are adding up-front. Once the item is added,
your cursor displays in the description field so that
you can begin entering the description right away. Flat
Rate labor entry has been enhanced so that you no longer
have to manually decouple your flat rate items from
the labor calculation. Just choose Flat Rate as your
Item Type and enter a description and price.
Custom Settings
- The Custom Settings dialog box, selected from the
Setup menu, allows a system administrator to enable/disable
certain program features. This password protected feature
can provide better control over the ability of system
users to make changes to program and shop settings.
